Action Man Museum of Design in Plastics
An articulated action doll made by Palitoy under licence from Hasbro, this example dates from circa 1976. Action Man was developed by Bob Brechin in 1966, Chief Designer at Palitoy. The moulded vinyl body parts are held together by elastic with metal eyelets through which metal rivets passed. The flexible vinyl gripping hands as in this example were introduced in 1973, an element which was designed by Bill Pugh. The features are painted and the head is flocked to give the impression of short hair. This particular example is wearing khaki coloured military outfit and black boots.
